A Letter To My Younger Self.

I'm sure I'm one of many who wishes they could go back in time and give their younger self a few pointers or at least a heads up! Most of the time I post about fashion or beauty and when I actually get the chance to travel and take a vacation I post about that too. So totally jealous of people who live their entire lives moving around and seeing the world. Sigh. Anyways, I wanted to do a more personal post in which I allowed my readers to actually get a glimpse of who I am as a person not just what I like to wear. I connect the most with bloggers who share about their lives and not just in pictures but in creative and cunning ways that grasp my full attention and want me to read more. So, if those are the type of bloggers I personally like to follow, why wouldn't I be more personal too?
 So here goes nothing....
If I could go back in time, I would tell myself:

1. Friendships are hard f*&%$!# work. I use to get so upset when I felt like I cared about a friendship more than they did, but friendships are relationships. And we all know relationships aren't always easy. Well, friendships are the same way. They take lots of work and you're going to have good days and bad days.

2. Having a few close friends is better than having a group of friends. Now, I know some girls in HS and even college have a group of 5-10 friends that they do everything with and it works out just fine. However, from my experience, having more friends is typically more drama. I have seen so many groups of "friends" who all talk badly about each other and then act like they don't know what they would do without one another. Insert side starring emoji. No thanks. I like having a few close friends who no matter what are there for you. When you tell someone a secret, it should stay a secret between you and her. Not you, her and her current boyfriend. Which leads me to number 3.

3. Guys gossip just as much as girls. I swear, this is something I didn't realize until a couple years ago. If you ever meet a guy who is actually completely himself with you and totally raw and honest he will tell you the same thing. Guys gossip. And please don't sit there and say, that's just immature guys. Err. Wrong. It's all guys, just some more than others. They gossip about everything with their friends and especially if they're on a sports team (I blame it on all the testosterone).

4. Don't ever expect anyone to look out for you. No one will look out for you better than yourself.

5. Take pride in your appearance. No, I'm not saying it's the only thing important because it's most definitely not. I've met a lot of pretty people that are complete ass holes and equally a lot of people who are not the most attractive but the nicest and most thoughtful people I've ever met. Looking good will make you feel good. Period.

6. Whatever you are most passionate about, never stop. Passion keeps life fulfilling and exciting.

7. Always appreciate the little or big goofy things your parents do. For example, my mom loves sending me pictures, quotes and anything about daughters and dogs she can find on facebook. She also decided to get an instagram and a twitter haha. I make fun of the little things she does but in reality I also cherish and appreciate all those things she does because one day she won't be here to send me a video of a little girl dressing up her dog or a quote about how special daughters are. There are so many people who aren't lucky enough to have both parents or parents that show them they care. Be thankful every day for what you have and never take it for granted.

8. Never trust your secrets with someone who spills every one else's. My mother always told me, if you notice someone always talking about people, how do you know they aren't doing the same thing about you to someone else?

9. To the shit relationships you're going to have. Most of it will make you look back and want to slap yourself for being so stupid and acting insecure, but it will prepare you for the one guy who makes you believe in all those things you knew existed. You never know how you will meet the one, but don't ever stop being you or living your life. If he is the one, he will want to be apart of your story not change it.

10. Don't ever be afraid to be you. You were not made to get along with everyone and no matter how old you get there will always be jealous, envious, rude and bitchy people in the world. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself, make you laugh until you cry, make you confident and push you to be the best you.
